Forrest Yoga

Forrest Yoga was developed by Ana Forrest and over the last 40 years has evolved to offer both a physical and internally focused practice. It has been designed to bring transformation and address modern day issues such as back and neck pain. The practice is built on the pillars of breath, strength, integrity and spirit. Forrest Yoga emphasises learning to move and pay attention in ways that move you out of your habitual patterns.

What should I expect?

During this journey, you will learn about the origin of this style of yoga (which has nothing to do with the forest!). We will go through the “fundamental moves” that are applicable in almost all the poses, learn about the foundational yoga postures, alignment and breathing. Each class will include intention setting, breath work, an abdominal focused warm up, a heat building sequencing, followed by relaxation.

Through the long holding poses and conscious breath, you will connect with your body, emotions and self – helping you to explore your habitual patterns and transform them. Besides, you will also increase your range of motion, build strength, improve balance and flexibility.

I will guide you intuitively, through verbal and hands-on assist. My intention is to help you go deeper in the pose accordingly to your range of motion so that you reap the maximum benefit of the practice. Props are also used to keep you safe and support your journey.

Is it for me?

Forrest Yoga is for anyone. This style of yoga has definitely something for everyone, whatever the experience. The one prerequisite is the willingness to be present!
